Kazakhstan: First strawberries from propagation greenhouse

Last week, the first strawberries were harvested at the Kazakh greenhouse grower Greenhouse Technologies of Kazakhstan (GTK) Ltd. The greenhouse in the north of Kazakhstan started with a test production of strawberries in the propagation department of the complex. The young plants are imported from the Netherlands and have been specially selected to give local consumers a tasty, sweet and quality product.

GTK is one of the leading greenhouse growers in Kazakhstan and the strawberries are an addition to their standard productions; on a total acreage of 4.6 hectares, the company grows cucumbers, tomatoes, different varieties of salad, plus radishes. A new mobile gutter system compartment for salad production is currently under construction, with plans to start production in mid-October 2015.
