Switzerland: new App for farm shops

In the beginning of July (2-7-2015) the Swiss Farmers' Union launched together with the company Someco the app "Farmerguide" and the website farmerguide.ch. The free App includes a large list of farms that sell their product directly on the farm. A special feature of the App is that users can contribute to the expansion of the list.

The Swiss Farmers' Union (SBV) has organized the platform "Vom Hof" for many years with a large and up-to-date list of farms that sell their produce directly from all over Switzerland. The app "Farmerguide" is created to expand the list and share it with a greater audience.

With this App hikers and bikers on the road as well as consumers can see if close to their position is a farm shop, pick your own, winery or other sales points for farm products. They can find their way on an online map and add and edit the existing entries. With this so-called crowd sourcing users help by sharing the farms they found with other users. The app offers the ability to find new businesses, and a comprehensive search for products or places.

The users and the farmers can use the integrated Twitter interface to tweet about special offers at the farm. These tweets can be followed at Twitter.

The free App "Farmerguide" is available at the App-Store and Google Play or as a download at www.farmerguide.ch.
