After the reopening of the Brazilian market for fruits and vegetable trade, the provincial government launched an assistance plan for the pears and apples productive sector, which includes compensation for exports, new credit lines, subsidies, search for new markets and tax benefits.
This was done via Decree 967, which was signed by Governor Francisco Perez, which provides compensation for exports, financing through the Fund for Transformation and Growth, plans for seeking new markets through ProMendoza, and tax benefits thanks to the work being carried out by authorities from Mendoza's Tax Administration and the General Department of Irrigation.
One of the most important articles of the decree has to do with the compensation for overseas exports, which establishes the equivalent in pesos of up to $3 dollars per every box of 20 kg of fresh pears and apples, in order to reintegrate the indirect taxes paid during the process of production, processing, logistics and marketing.
Moreover, it establishes the creation of a special line of working capital financing and subsidizing the interest rate for loans granted by Argentina's National Bank.
"There was a lot of fruit that could not be exported and thanks to intensive negotiations by the national government and the publication of this new standard, these destinations are enabled for Mendoza," stated the Minister of Agro Industry and Technology, Marcelo Costa.
Meanwhile, Juan Riviera, head of the association that brings together the producers linked to the sector, celebrated "the non-refundable contribution of $10 for each box of 20 kilos of processed pears and apples that are traced by the Risk Mitigation System, which guarantees these fruits will have a price of $ 2.50 per kilogram."
"This help is very important. We believe it holds great promise for the start of the season and it is a great encouragement to continue working for the future of the province," he said.
The head of ISCAMEN, Raul Millan, said "we'll restart working the protocol so that won't have to go through the same situation next year and the productive sector can start exporting from the outset."
"This is an exciting measure, just in time for the agricultural cycle that begins," said the official.
