Senegalese mango exports to the Ivory Coast increase

Mango exports from Senegal to the EU increased to 10,247 tons in 2014, up 2,042 tons compared to last season. This makes the country the second largest West African mango exporter, after the Ivory Coast. However, the country loses between 20-30% of its production every year due to whitefly which attacks the fruit. Senegal only exports one tenth of their total production (120,000 tons). Whilst they are making efforts to increase their mango exports, it is unlikely that in the short term they will overtake the Ivory Coast.
