Increase in smoked garlic acreage in Arleux, France

The Association of smoked garlic producers from the Arleux region have held their general assembly. Whilst the number of producer members in the group remains stable (7 subscribers and 2 supporters), acreage is increasing every year. It has gone from 12.75 hectares in 2013, to 13.5 hectares in 2014 and now 17.94 hectares in 2015. Production has gone from 33.3 tons in 2013 to 43.993 tons in 2014. Plant supply is not always easy and the breakdown of varieties is strict - at least a quarter must be certified Gayant or Arno. The association are trying to increase the product awareness. They were present at the Terroirs et Saveurs festival in Arras and the Nantes cow festival and will have a stand at the fair in Douai. They may also in the near future hire an intern.
