"Prices are stable, and slightly increasing for the Elstar apples. Some supermarkets have stopped offering Dutch Elstar, but Germany is empty, so there's more export demand coming from wholesale," Kees goes on to say. "Sales of Conference pears keep going to all corners of the world. Poland is still in the game, but a lot of pears are also going to Scandinavia and the United Kingdom. We also export to destinations in Southern Europe. For apples, demand from Poland is still limited, but that market also isn't reliable in terms of storage figures, making it difficult to give an estimate."
"As to how the market will continue to develop, I have to trust my instincts. Personally, I think the volumes sold in the past six weeks aren't that great. On the other hand, we still have eight weeks to go before there's any significant amount of fruit. Then there won't be very much in storage anymore, so we can keep our heads cool. We're starting the new season from a whole new perspective. For instance, we're prepared for the extension of the Russian boycott, and there will be no question of panic at the start of the season."
