The conflict between the Government and the producers of Rio Negro and Neuquén came to an impasse after the long awaited and postponed meeting in Buenos Aires between representatives of the Casa Rosada and a small portion of the protesters was held.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Carlos Casamiquela, the chief of staff, Hector Espina; the Undersecretary of Regional Economies Development, Louis Vito, the Secretaries of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Gabriel Delgado; Political and Institutional Agricultural Emergency Coordination, Javier Rodriguez, and the Secretary of Rural Development, Carla Campos Bilbao.
An unsatisfying offer
The Government offered 80 million pesos to be used to control the codling moth in apples and pears, and that will be distributed in two disbursements for which there still is no defined date and modality.
The producers present in Buenos Aires stated they were unsatisfied with the offer, but said they wouldn't conduct any demonstrations until tomorrow, when the Federation meets in Cipolletti to discuss what steps to take.
The farmers were represented by Grisanti Gabriel (Tres Ases), Jorge Teft (PAI), Ariel Sabbag (SABBAG), Alberto Albano and Gustavo Tanzzi (KLEPPE), Denis Kloster (ECOFRUT) Hernan Secreto and Hugo Sanchez (Patagonian Fruit) Jorge Cervi and Eduardo Aruano (Cervi hermanos), Jorge Cekosky (Cekosky Frutas), Gustavo Islas (Primera Cooperativa), Francisco Prado (Jugos del Sur), Constanzi Edgardo (Cooperativa Sidrera Las Delicias), and Daniel Vilesich and Jorge Data (Cooperativa Juguera de Rio Colorado).
