NatureFresh Greenhouse Education Center

Produce Mom partners up for 'Green in the City Tour'

NatureFresh™ Farms has enlisted the help of Indianapolis’ own, The Produce Mom®, for their Central Indiana stop on the #GreenInTheCity tour.

#GreenInTheCity is the tour name for NatureFresh’s new mobile Greenhouse Education Center. Currently, the Greenhouse Education Center is booked in different North American cities every week through mid-fall, 2015. Each stop of the tour is identified through the area code associated with the hashtag – this week’s event in Central Indiana can be followed using #GreenInTheCity317.

“When we slated a stop for Indianapolis, we immediately thought about The Produce Mom,” explained Chris Veillon, Marketing Director of NatureFresh Farms. “NatureFresh has a long-standing partnership with The Produce Mom. We knew that coming into Lori’s hometown would bring us great opportunity for unique impressions and exposure.”

Unique opportunities in Indianapolis include:
An invitation-only event at local craft brewery, MashCraft Brewing, where the limited edition brew #PepperRedAle, made with NatureFresh Farms’ bell peppers, will be tapped. This event will be catered by local culinary arts students from Ivy Tech Community College, with a menu that showcases NatureFresh Farms’ tomatoes, bell peppers & cucumbers.

The entire Indianapolis community has been invited to sample NatureFresh tomatoes at the Soldiers & Sailors Monument in the center of downtown Indianapolis. Tours of the Greenhouse Education Center will be conducted by NatureFresh Farms owners & staff, as well as local high school student members of the Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) organization. To commence the #GreenInTheCity317 sampling event on Monument Circle, Peter Quiring, President of NatureFresh Farms will present J. Stewart Goodwin Brig. Gen., USAF (Ret) with a monetary donation to the Indiana War Memorial.

NatureFresh Farms’ corporate chef & sensory education coordinator, Henry Furtado, will lead the NatureFresh team during an intimate visit to Forever Fit Camp, a nationally-recognized childhood obesity & youth wellness summer camp in Indianapolis. At Forever Fit Camp, Chef Henry and The Produce Mom will sample & demonstrate how to prepare snacks using NatureFresh Farms produce. In addition to the sampling & Greenhouse Education Center experience, Chris Veillon will lead a series of educational activities that relate to the Produce Marketing Association’s #eatbrighter campaign.

#GreenInTheCity317 will conclude with a 3-day attraction at a newly-remodeled Kroger store in Carmel, Indiana. Shoppers will have the opportunity to tour the Greenhouse Education Center, as well as sample & purchase NatureFresh Farms products.

“This event is the first to fully merge the produce industry stature & grassroots community connections of The Produce Mom. I’m so excited to welcome NatureFresh Farms, my 2014 Partner of the Year, to Indianapolis—my hometown!” exclaimed Lori Taylor, The Produce Mom.
