Cauliflower price falls, supply increases

The cauliflower market was doing well for a long time, but recently prices have fallen as a result of increased supply on the market. "For a long time we were around 90 cents, but now it has fallen to around 50-60 cents," says Jan Kors from the White Pearl Group. The growers association, where four growers are affiliated, started with the Dutch cauliflower in the third week of May.

The cauliflower grower expects supply to be stable in the coming weeks and does not think that the market will fall further. "You can see now that if prices fall, more start being sold immediately. Fortunately, the quality is very good. There is definitely no more acreage in the Netherlands and there is less and less cauliflower in Germany, hopefully that has a positive effect on the market."
