Argentina: Corrientes may export diced strawberry or fresh pulp

The opening of the strawberry packing plant generated expectations for producers to open new markets. Rodolfo Kunz, technical manager of IderCor in Corrientes said that the interaction between producers, the Government, and the PRODEAR has created the conditions to approach the export process through this iconic work, especially considering that the harvest in Corrientes is ahead of the rest of the country.

According to the newspaper El Litoral de Corrientes, the technical manager of the Institute of Rural Development of Corrientes, Rodolfo Kunz, said that the plant was an iconic work for the sector. "This will alleviate the needs of strawberry producers in a specific part of the province and will greatly favor marketing, because the harvest takes place in late May, which makes it a novelty because the harvest in the rest of country takes place in August or September, and that should be exploited," he said. Finally, the official also said that, they were going to try to advance a project to facilitate the possible export of fresh fruit dices or fruit pulp.

It’s worth noting that the packing plant and cold storage for strawberries and other products is located in Desmochado (Bella Vista) and belongs to the Agricultural Cooperative Cruz de los Milagros - Desmochado (CMD) Ltda.
