BQ Fruits offers mangos to Europe through summer

With over 300 hectares GlobalG.A.P.-certified growing areas in Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit, Sinaloa, Guerrero and Oaxaca, BQ Fruits currently has the production and logistics to serve the Dutch, Russian, Spanish and Italian markets. They'll have Mexican mangos available to those markets through September.

“We want to provide fruit that is at its optimum maturity,” said Nadia Martinez of BQ Fruits. “We want people to have ready to eat fruit.” Marketed under their own label and under the Don Miguel and Elite brands, BQ offers Ataulfo, Tommy Atkins, Haden, Kent and Keitt mangos in four-kilogram and six-kilogram packages. All shipments are sent by air from Mexico City and Guadalajara to their European destinations.

“We harvest the mango when we observe the right color, when it's about three-quarters mature,” explained Martinez. “Then we pack it and cool it down to 50 degrees for the journey to Europe.” The varieties BQ handles aren't as fibrous as most varieties, and they're just as nutritious.

“Our objective is to reach supermarkets and increase the areas we ship to,” said Martinez. “We want to give our clients the healthy and delicious taste of our Mexican mangos.”
