High demand for new carrots

Potato market remains well tuned

The current potato market remains well tuned, reports Leo de Kock in their newsletter. Both the old and the new harvest are going through somewhat of a revival. This is partly due to the good supply from Israel, Egypt and Morocco. The potatoes from Italy, Spain, Portugal and Western Europe have been available somewhat later, because they were planted later due to the colder weather.

Demand for new potatoes is high and their availability is late. The new Malta crop is still becoming available, with the final containers now being shipped. A completely new harvest is being used for the organic potatoes; a positive way to end the season. That gives the sector a lot of confidence in the coming seasons.
