Swisscofel wants to show the consumer the connections

Swisscofel, the association of the Swiss fruit, vegetable and potato trade, organized its General Assembly in Bern in early May.

According to a press release Marc Wermelinger, CEO Swisscofel, presented an overview of the issues that had an impact on the industry in the past year and the challenges ahead at the meeting. He talked about the demand of trade, and the need to recognise products from Swiss farmers in the border zone as Swiss products.

And Wermelinger and Jacques Blondin, Swisscofel President, announced a campaign together with other organizations that shows the consumer everything that is connected with all the shopping in Switzerland. It is far more than just pay the price for a product, because ultimately jobs and apprenticeships, pensions, the environment, quality and prosperity all dependent on the consumer.

There have been be some changes in the board. Newly elected to the board are Christian Sohm as a representative for organic traders, Andreas Allenspach representing the distributors and Bruno Perlini as a representative of the importers.
