Mexican producer Inverafrut has expanded its activities on the European market in order to improve the communication with its European customers and increase revenue. Two weeks ago, Marijn Kruidenier opened a sales office in Barendrecht, working together with an English partner. "The emphasis will be on Mexican limes, but the first Mexican bananas are also on their way by water already."
Marijn rents an office close to the trade centre, and storage and transshipment is handled by R&M Forwarding. "The advantage is that Inverafruit Holland functions as both a producer and importer. I am still looking for partners in the Netherlands - and elsewhere in Europe - to agree direct programmes with. That's an advantage you can offer when you have a producer to back you."
"The lime market was very good in recent weeks, but is now shrinking as a consequence of increased supply. The United States remains the most important market for Mexico, and as soon as that export decreases, Europe pops its head around the corner," Marijn says. "In addition to the bananas already headed our way, we will also start with avocados, mangoes and sweet potatoes."
