new office and warehouse in use by end of the year

Staay Food Group: barge terminal in the 'back garden'

Staay Food Group (SFG) had the honour of being the first to unload containers at the brand new barge terminal in Alblasserdam on the morning of Monday 18 May. The location of Staay Export, part of SFG, is only 300 metres from the new terminal. "As SFG we import a considerable volumes from Central and South America and South Africa. We are seeing a tendency for more and more shipping companies going to the new Maasvlakte with the deep sea carriers, which makes it very financially interesting to take the containers to Alblasserdam through inland waterways," says Alexander Visser.

The first container was loaded onto the truck on the terminal the day before yesterday

Bye using this new terminal SFG can contribute to sustainability. Unloading containers in Alblasserdam means less trucks on the A15 from the Maasvlakte to Alblasserdam, which reduces traffic jams and CO2 emissions. For SFG the arrival of these first containers coincides with the start of the construction of a new office and warehouse directly opposite Staay Export's existing location. At the end of the year this new building will hold both the Staay-Hispa and SFG's main office. The two locations have 14,000 m2 cooled storage space and over 3,250 m2 of office space in total.
