Norovirus in frozen blueberries

A warning to consumers: the norovirus pathogen has spread through the frozen blueberries of the brand “Picard”. Consumption of these berries can cause gastrointestinal disorder.

The Luxembourger agency for food safety warns consumers against the deep frozen blueberries from “Picard”. The 450 gram package with freezing date January 10, 2015 would contain the norovirus pathogen.

Upon consumption, the virus can cause gastrointestinal disorder, which expresses mostly through nausea and diarrhoea. Other symptoms may include fever, headache and fatigue.

The incubation period is between 6 and 48 hours. “Picard” in Strassen has banned the product from the deep-freezer shelves. Nevertheless, infected blueberries are still being sold. Customers are asked to return infected goods.
