Mexico: Kilo of avocado selling for up to 39.75 pesos

Avocado and tomato prices had the greatest variation in price between May 4 and May 8. 

A kilo of avocado increased by 8 pesos in the markets of Puebla, from 20 to 28 pesos; while the tomato fell 5 pesos and was sold at 14.53 pesos per kilogram, according to the prices set by the Federal Consumer (Profeco).

Moreover, the institution also set the maximum price for a kilo of Hass avocado at 39.75 pesos, the saladette tomato at 15.43 pesos, limes at 12.32 pesos and onion prices at 12.99 pesos.

Meanwhile, in Mexico City's Central Market, avocados were sold for 32 pesos per kilo, tomato at $11 pesos, limes at 10 pesos, and onions at 5 pesos per kilogram.

In turn, in the markets of Tijuana, Baja California, a kilo of avocado was offered at 45 pesos, limes at 25 pesos, saladette tomato at 20 pesos, and a kilo of onions at 15 pesos.

In the popular markets in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, the avocado reached 32 pesos per kilo, limes were offered at 15 pesos, while the tomato and onion stood at 10 pesos a kilogram each.

A kilo of avocado in the public markets in Merida, Yucatan, were sold for up to 45 pesos, while the kilo of lime and onion were offered for 10 pesos, each, and the tomato was sold for 8.99 pesos per kilo.

In Puebla, a kilo of avocado was sold for 28 pesos, a kilo of tomato for 12 pesos, a kilo of lime for 5 pesos and a kilo of onions for 7 pesos.
