Fairtrade-banana sales increase around 62 percent in 2014

Last year, the sales of Fairtrade-certified products recorded the strongest absolute growth in the seal's existence.

Consumers spent a total of 827 million Euro on Fairtrade products. 173 million Euro more than the year before. This means an increase of 28%. Last year, the combined sales of Fairtrade products rose by around 44% on over 102,990 tons. With Fairtrade bananas, sales increased by around 62% on about 51,180 tons. With this, easily eight percent of all bananas sold in Germany carry the Fairtrade seal.
