ASAJA Murcia
"Spain: Drought Decree to "greatly support" Murcian agriculture"
The agricultural professional organisation ASAJA Murcia has stressed how the passing of the Decreto de Sequía (Drought Decree) will greatly support Murcian agriculture, and has been deemed a great success for the regional government and its Councillor of Agriculture and Water, Adela Martínez-Cacho.
As explained by the general secretary of ASAJA Murcia, Alfonso Gálvez Caravaca, "the Drought Decree is an important move forward in the development and modernisation of the Segura basin, as well as a step in the right direction to continue working to resolve the structural water deficit."
The representative of ASAJA Murcia also pointed out: "We consider it essential to continue working in the implementation of the National Hydrological Plan, which is essential for the social and economic development of the regional food industry. To this end, it is therefore necessary to sign a National Water Pact that can help resolve the water shortage in such key basins such as that of the Segura river."
