20 percent of German greenhouse growers want to expand

Growers want to renew the existing situation

18.2 percent of German greenhouse growers are planning a relevant investment in their greenhouses. Like last year, most opt for renewal of the existing greenhouses.

This is one of the results from the "Greenhouse Scanner" in Germany, which AgriDirect conducted in March this year. About 500 German greenhouse growers were interviewed during this survey about their future and investment plans.

Investment plans of German greenhouse growers

Renewal more popular than new constructions
Compared to the year 2014 the plans for the construction of new greenhouses are virtually stable (4.6 percent). However the percentage of plans for renewal has increased. Last year 8.0 percent wanted to renovate existing greenhouses while this year 13.6 percent wants to renew existing structures.

German greenhouse growers intend to invest more than their Dutch colleagues
In the Netherlands, less greenhouse growers want to invest 4.3 percent. In the Netherlands 2.5 percent of the growers have plans for new greenhouses and 1.8 percent wants to renew the existing greenhouses. The source is from a survey done in November 2014 in the Netherlands.
