UK: Average demand for citrus

The UK market has plenty of citrus at the moment there is the last if the fruit from Egypt, Spain and Morocco while the new South African fruit is beginning to arrive. One importer said that demand is average just now.

The first South African soft citrus has already arrived and the first grapefruit is expected mid May. In general the first citrus from South Africa is expected to be on the small side this season so any large sizes will command more of a premium.

At the moment lime prices are high due to low availability but that should drop as Mexican fruit starts to arrive. Lemon prices are increasing due to less availability.
