Melon and watermelon growers are increasingly devoting more care and using more treatments with the goal of obtaining the best quality and the best returns.
These crops are quite exposed to high temperatures and subject to strong solar radiation.
Decco Iberica has consequently developed Deccoshield®, a liquid solution applied with the goal of preventing sunburn damage. This product belongs to the Decconatur range and can be used in organic farming.

"Deccoshield® is a white liquid product with the same effect on fruit as a sunscreen lotion on the skin of people. Not only does it manage to reduce impact of sunburn on fruit, but it also prevents it from suffering heat stress, improves the photosynthesis and, ultimately, the fruit reaches a more uniform size and colour," explains Julio Aparicio, of the technical department of Decco Ibérica.
"Its active ingredient is calcium carbonate in ultrafine particles that ensure an easy and uniform application, which sets it apart from its competitors. Is a highly technical product that needs to be applied at the right time," he points out.
Julio also emphasises its compatibility with other products, so it can be mixed with a wide range of fertilisers, fungicides, biostimulants, etc.
"We distribute Deccoshield® in La Mancha, Murcia and Valencia, where summer temperatures easily reach 40 °C. We also have an exclusive distribution agreement for melons and watermelons with Bollo, a leading brand in Spain. We are delighted that a company like Bollo has chosen us for the treatment of their crops, as it shows how they value all elements that can contribute to improving the product's quality," he affirms.
Decco Ibérica sells this product both in Spain and Portugal and it is now starting with Morocco. At the same time, through its agreement with Bollo, it also works with crops in Senegal. Decco Ibérica is part of Decco Worlwide, so Deccoshield® is also distributed in Italy, Israel, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, etc.
