'Fresh fruit and watches' for Rotterdam

Watch specialists at Horloge.nl and Fruit and Vegetable trader Frans van de Polder from Rotterdam are joining forces to inform the people of Rotterdam about the importance of eating enough fruits and vegetables. With the campaign 'Verse horloges en Fruit' ('Fresh watches and fruit) they announce that only 5% of all Dutch people eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables. Time for a change!

'Can I get two kilos of apples and that watch please.' It may sound a bit strange, but this is possible during the month of May at Frans van de Polder vegetable store in the north of Rotterdam. Watch specialists as Horloge.nl and fruit and vegetable trader Frans van de Polder initiated the 'Verse Horloges en Fruit' campaign to get Rotterdammers to eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables daily.

People in Rotterdam eat far too little fruits and vegetables
Fruits, vegetables and grains are important sources of fiber, which everyone needs. Two pieces of fruit and 200 grams of vegetables per day is the recommended amount, according to the Health Council. Only 5% of adults adhere to the guideline for vegetables, and only 5-10% eat the recommended amount of fruit. We see this negative trend in young people especially, they are not getting enough fiber. It is clear to everyone that this is not good, but how can this be solved? Two companies in Rotterdam wanted to do something fun and a little out there to bring the harbor city back to a healthy place; so 'Verse horloges en fruit' was created.
