Van Gelder introduces Kleintje Vers and BijtRijp

Van Gelder groente & fruit in Ridderkerk will introduce two new brands on April 29, responding to consumers' healthy snack moments. With Kleintje Vers, they're introducing portion packs of cut fruit and vegetables. BijtRijp is a range of fruit that is guaranteed to be ready to eat. This fruit is especially chosen for its origin, ripeness and taste.

Gerrit van Gelder, managing director at Van Gelder groente & fruit, notes that the group of health-conscious consumers is becoming bigger and bigger, requiring a healthier alternative increasingly often. "The problem, however, is that it's still a consumer with a busy life and not a lot of time. By offering ready-to-eat packagings, we respond to this health trend."

Kleintje Vers: healthy snack bags
With Kleintje Vers, Van Gelder packages ready-to-eat bags of snack fruit and vegetables. The range includes the well-known cherry tomatoes and apple slices, but also strips of cucumber and carrot. "We want a varied range with healthy products, which are tasty as well," Gerrit van Gelder explains.

Thanks to the flexible production process, all sorts of fruit and vegetables can be packaged. "We are already testing with a wide range of products, such as kohlrabi and cherries. The condition is that it's tasty to eat."

BijtRijp: selected Ready to Eat fruit
BijtRijp is the second brand Van Gelder is introducing to the market. "We're introducing this brand to attach a quality label to a certain range of products. Because of our overwhelming product range, we sometimes see our customers are unsure about what to choose. As an example: we have around five different orange varieties. For someone who wants to offer a tasty orange as table fruit, it's pretty difficult to choose the variety that's exactly right. Not every orange variety has the same taste sensation. With BijtRijp, we're ending this problem."

BijtRijp includes fruit that's especially selected for its ripeness, flavour and origin. Every week, the product specialists at Van Gelder determine what types and varieties of fruit will be carried. Because all products are packaged by hand, the customer is sure to get a tasty piece of fruit with BijtRijp. The products Kleintje Vers and BijtRijp are already available at various caterers and canteens.
