Viva Tierra begins shipping Chilean pears

This marks the first year Viva Tierra Organic, a supplier of organic fruit from around the world, has imported pears from Chile. Viva Tierra has begun their Chilean imports with a few containers of the Forelle pear, though volumes could increase in the future.

“The Forelle is a small pear, packed in 22lb/10kg. carton,” said Deidre Smyrnos of Viva Tierra Organic. “They have plenty of color, and they are the perfect size for children or to put in a salad.” The Forelles join the rest of Viva Tierra's pear lineup from South America. Viva Tierra currently has Red Bartletts and Abate Fetels from Argentina in good supply with opportunities for promotion, which are available on both the West Coast and East Coast. D’Anjou, Autumn Bartlett and Packham pears from Argentina should be available from them well into summer after which the California season starts up again.
