Cyclist Rebellin rides on beet juice and beans
Italian cyclist Rebellin has been riding for 23 years now. His secret is the strict diet of beet juice and beans. His room mate Schumacher wouldn't be able to pull it off. Shaking his head, the German lists the products that Rebellin doesn't use: "Coffee, alcohol, Coca-Cola, sugar... He doesn't use any of that. Drinks a lot of water and beet juice."
The cyclist is as good as vegetarian. Rebellin: "I removed products with gluten from my diet. And I try to avoid meat as much as possible. At home I try to eat vegetarian a lot. No meat, no fish. That's difficult during races. There, they don't always have vegetarian proteins, such as beans. Then I eat what's on the menu."
