Mexico: Avocado prices increase

The prices of some basic food products recorded mixed variations in the week between April 13 and April 17 this year and the product that had the highest price increase was the avocado.
 
Avocado prices in Puebla went from $19 to $27 pesos, while in Guadalajara, Jalisco, they increased from $19 to $26 pesos per kilogram in the referenced week.
 
According to the Federal Consumer Protection Office (PROFECO) a kilogram of avocado reached sale prices of $39.21 pesos, while saladette tomatoes were sold at $15.57 pesos, lemons at $12.47 pesos and onions at $13.39 pesos.
 
The avocado was sold for up to $47 pesos in the markets of Tijuana, Baja California, while lemon was sold for $28 pesos, saladette tomatoes for $20 pesos and onions for $15 pesos.
 
A kilogram of avocado was sold up to $30 pesos in the central supply of Mexico City, the tomato was offered in $14, lemon in $10 pesos and onions in $6 pesos.
 
In the central supply of León, Guanajuato, the price per kilo of avocados was $27 pesos, while a kilogram of tomatoes was sold at $16, lemons at $10 and onions at $9 pesos per kilo.
 
The prices in the popular markets in Monterrey, Nuevo León, were as follows: eggs and avocado reached $30 pesos per kilo, lemon $15 pesos per kilo, onion was marketed for $12 pesos per kilogram, tomatoes were offered at $10 pesos.
 
In the reference week, the kilogram of avocado reached a sale quote of $40 pesos in the public markets in Mérida, Yucatán, while the kilo of tomatoes was offered at $17, onion $9 pesos, and lemon $7 pesos per kilogram.
 
In the municipal markets in Puebla the kilo of avocado was sold for up to $27 pesos, whereas a kilo of tomatoes and a kilo of lemon were sold for $7 pesos each.
 
In the market of Guadalajara, Jalisco, the price per kilogram of avocado reached $26 pesos, tomatoes $12 pesos, onions $10 pesos, and lemon $9 pesos per kilo.
