US (CA): Celery prices good

With some of California's growers yet to begin harvesting celery, supplies out of the Central Coast have been light. With adequate demand and light supplies, prices have been good.

On April 17, prices for a carton of celery were between $8.35 and $10.85 out of Santa Maria, and demand was reported as fairly good. Out of Oxnard, prices were slightly better, with cartons priced between $8.50 and $11.61. Production in the state is not yet in full swing, but the outlook for the bulk of the season appears normal.

“We don't see any issues with the upcoming crop,” said Kevin Jordan of Adam Brothers. “We start around late-April or early-May, and it looks like that production should be fine.”
