Spanish-French-Italian apple and garlic contact groups to meet next week

The Spanish-French-Italian apple and garlic contact groups will meet on Monday 20 April and Tuesday 21 April respectively in Perpignan, France, to discuss, among other things, the campaign situations for the three countries within the framework of the Spanish-French-Italian Joint Committee for Fruits and Vegetables, whose plenary session will be held on 28 April in Madrid, and where the results and proposals of all contact groups will be reported.

At the apple group meeting of Monday 20 April there will be an initial assessment and analysis of the 2014/2015 campaign, with special attention to the impact of the Russian veto and the exceptional measures adopted by the European Commission in this regard.

The group will also discuss the marketing standards for apples and especially the modification of the CEPE_ONU rule, as well as phytosanitary issues.

The Spanish-French-Italian garlic group will meet the next day, 21 April, also in Perpignan, to take stock of the 2014 campaign and make prospects for the 2015 season. The situation regarding garlic imports from third countries will also be analysed.
