This is what the Germans really think of organic

It is a widespread assumption: organic foods are healthier than traditional foods. The federal citizens, however, don't believe it so readily. A majority does not think organic foods are healthier at all.

That is the result of a recent survey of the opinion-research institute Emnid for BILD am SONNTAG:
  • Thus, 53 percent of the respondents do not believe that organic foods are better than foods without the organic seal.
  • Acceptance of organic foods is greater in women (47 percent) than in men (40 percent).
Astonishingly: Nevertheless, the greater majority of Germans are willing to pay more for foods that stem from animals that were raised in a manner appropriate to the species. For 90 percent of respondents, this is a more acceptable reason for higher prices, and for 10 percent it is not.
