Mexico: Tomato and avocado prices will increase

Vendors at grocery stores as well as those in vegetables and fruit stores expect the price of Saladette tomatoes will increase in the coming weeks. Currently the price of this product varies between 17.65 and 25.90 pesos, while the Hass avocado kilo costs from 17.65 to 44.95 pesos.

Even though there has been no official announcement, producers told the owners of the establishments that there would be an imminent price adjustment. Expectations were the increase would have taken place last week, but prices still remain stable.

The avocado being sold isn't of good quality but, since there isn't any others on offer, customers are buying them like this.

The stores have the prices on display and, according to store owners, the customers are waiting for the increase.
