Peru: Agricultural exports increased slightly

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri) stated that Peruvian agricultural exports during the first two months of this year amounted to US $801 million, i.e. 1.7% more than the US $788 million achieved in the same period in 2014.

In addition, the Directorate General of Monitoring and Policy Evaluation (DSPS) of that ministerial body reported that the exports of (non-traditional) value-added agricultural products had accounted for 96% of the total agricultural exports, as they totalled $770 million between January and February 2015 (5% more than in the first two months of last year).

In this regard, the head of Minagri, Juan Manuel Benites said: "There was an increase in shipments of the main non-traditional products, such as fresh and frozen mango (29% and 35% respectively), fresh asparagus (23%), preparations for animal feed (10%), and Valery Cavendish bananas (30%) during the first two months of 2015.
