a new report from ProduceView the UK retail prices of cucumber, mixed peppers and vine tomatoes were recorded. The prices are monitored at nine supermarkets in the UK, namely: Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, M & S, Sainsbury, Asda, Co-op, Lidl, and Aldi. The prices have been monitored over the last 15 weeks. Over the few last weeks, and especially this week, retailers are increasingly supplying British and Dutch vegetables. Cucumber
This week, the cucumber retail prices are between £0.39 (Lidl) and £0.80 (Co-op) and the average price is £0.52. In general, the prices remained quite stable over the past 15 weeks. During the monitored period, the cucumber was only on promotion twice (Lidl). In general, the cucumbers are supplied from Spain, but over the last weeks, we can see that the retailers are increasingly supplying British cucumbers and now also Dutch cucumbers. This week, Sainsbury and Morrison’s supply their first Dutch cucumbers in 15 weeks.
Mixed peppers
The mixed peppers are packed in threes. Over the past 15 weeks, the retail prices remained quite stable. This week, the retail price of a mixed pack of peppers lies between £0.95 (Aldi, Lidl) and £1.75 (Co-op) per pack. The average retail price is £1.12 per pack. Since week 47, last year, the retailers only supplied peppers from Spain, Morocco and Israel. However, the Dutch and British peppers are entering the market. This week, the first British pepper is supplied at Sainsbury. In week 12, the first Dutch peppers at were supplied at Morrison’s and this week also at Co-op.
Vine tomatoes
This week, the retail prices of vine tomatoes are measured at six retailers, Co-op, Aldi and Lidle are not included. The retail prices are between £2.10 (Asda) and £6.40 (Waitrose) per kilo. The average retail price is 4.77 per kilo. Over the entire measurement period, the majority of the tomatoes came from Spain. However, three weeks ago, Waitrose started to supply British vine tomatoes. This week, the first Dutch vine tomatoes are supplied at M & S.
