Promperu seeks to market 13 new products 2015

PromPeru stated that they working on marketing 13 new products in international markets this year.

"Among the products in this process are organic bananas, organic mango, aguaymanto, sacha inchi, passion fruit, maca, quinoa, amaranth, pisco, olive, chestnut, specialty coffee, and cocoa," said the coordinator of the department of Agribusiness, William Arteaga.

To do this, he said, we will strengthen the SMEs and the MSEs in the export route, but we will also work in facilitating shipments in terms of logistical support, certifications, cold chain and connectivity.

Arteaga also said there would be a strengthening of the Peruvian products that were already positioned, such as grapes, asparagus, citrus, avocados, artichokes, peppers, mango, pomegranate and blueberries. "In this context, we will improve the promotion of the products in the retail and distribution channels via the OCEX and Promperú's network," he said.

Mexico's threat
At the XVI Agro exporters Lunch, ADEX warned that Mexico was a constant threat for Peruvian exports of fresh asparagus targeted to the US market.

"We must be careful because the US represents 29% of Peruvian shipments," they said.
