US: Easter Egg radish extremely popular
Babe Farms grows its Easter Egg radishes in the Santa Maria Valley in California. They are available year-round, but their peak season runs from April to October. The radishes are bunched and packed at the field and sold in boxes of 24 ct. The bunches receive their different colors from multiple radish varieties that are seeded in the same row.
“Demand may slow down a little after Easter, but Easter Egg radishes remain popular through spring and summer”, said Manos. They can be eaten raw and pickled, but braised radishes are also extremely popular. Additionally, Easter Egg radishes are a crudité platter favorite. “Their taste is pretty similar to the traditional red radish, but their colors make them a big trend right now”, finished Manos.
