Storage space offered

US (TX): Port of Houston increasingly moves fresh produce

Brother’s Produce, a large Texas produce distributor, has recently added 25,000 SQF of warehouse storage for fresh produce. Under the Houston Cold Storage name, the company started storing fresh produce for several companies in 2014 and quickly outgrew the space dedicated for cold storage. “We have been closely monitoring the cold storage industry and noticed a strong demand for cold storage in the port of Houston”, says Brent Erenwert with Brother’s Produce. In response to increased demand, Brother’s Produce has expanded its warehouse space and today, the company offers a total of nearly 150,000 SQF refrigerated warehouse space.

“Our key to success is the fact that we not only offer storage space, but we also have the ability to deliver produce virtually anywhere in the surrounding states on one of our 95 trucks”, Erenwert commented. “This provides a one stop shop for anyone seeking storage in the Houston area.”

“We are pretty much open to storing anything produce related as well as frozen products. We also have ripening capabilities if the customer needs that feature”, Erenwert mentioned. “This time of the year various melon varieties are our biggest storage item. However, storage commodities change with the change of seasons.” Requests for storage mainly come from domestic shippers, but Brother’s Produce has international customers storing product as well. “We look at that segment as a vital growth avenue of our storage business”, finished Erenwert.
