Crisis in the pome sector

"Argentina: "The announcement for small producers is essentially Peronism"

"The aim is to encourage and stimulate small producers to generate more wealth in a way that doesn't impact taxes, which benefit everybody and finance social policies," stated the Head of Minister in his usual meeting with reporters before entering the Casa Rosada.

According to him, the presidential announcement intends to benefit and encourage small producers, especially "in harvest months, when they need it the most, without harming the collection."

He added that the president's vocation is to stimulate small producers, and he recalled that, "in that sense, Peronism has always focused on them, it doesn't partake in the table of economists benefited by the major sectors that only make daily comments to encourage generation of oligopolies. Our mission is to encourage small producers."

He stressed that the announcement was made yesterday because "the harvest is about to start in a few months; the president must have understood that it was the right time to make a decision of this nature, and to talk to a sector of an industry that has the vocation of doing things well; and that won't take to the streets in protest."

Asked about the departure of Eduardo Buzzi, from the Agrarian Federation, he replied that that was an internal issue of the agricultural entity and added: "I didn't push him away and I didn't ask him to stay."

"That was an issue of the Federation, and I know how that entity was born and I never saw it related to the Rural Society, which didn't really care for 70% of the farmers that produce 12% of the total," he said.

He recalled that the Agrarian Federation was created in 1912, the year in which there was a record harvest but the farmers were starving. He then added he had never understood why the people who lost their life in that discussion weren't honoured and how they didn't pay much attention to where they were standing.
