Chile: 70% more cherries to China

During the PMABreakfast Seminar in Chile (Casa Piedra), where several agricultural industryissues were addressed, Kurt Huang, General Manager of Shanghai Oheng, spoke about exporting to China.

He stated thatChile sends 70% more cherries to China last year with a total of 79,000 tons. Huang continued by telling attendees that 80% of fruit imported into China is tropical fruit, with the top 3 being dragonfruit, longan, and bananas, make up 50% of the total.

A very influential player in the Shanghai market, Kurt currently owns a stake of more than 60% of imported fruits in the city. He began his career back in 2004 as an importer of Chilean fruit and later served in the traditional market.
