Germany: increasing interest in imported pears

German wholesale markets had a large supply of pears in week 10, BLE reports. The largest volume came from South Africa, followed by Italy. Some varieties were exceptionally early for the season, such as the Packham Triumph and Abate Fetel. Varieties like the Williams Christ and Rosemarie were also on the market. The presence of South African Flamingo increased, and Carmen and Forelle were new to the product range. The volumes from Chile had also increased. European offerings lost some interest. The demand was mainly focused on imported pears. The prices for European pears remained stable, with a small increase for certain varieties, such as the Italian Abate Fetel.
