2nd Technical Conference on Tropical Crops

"Spain: "An issue for the future"

For the second consecutive year, the Spanish Association of Tropical Fruit Growers is organising its Technical Conference on Tropical Crops, entitled "An issue for the future", with support from the Council of Malaga and the brand Sabor a Málaga (Flavour of Malaga). At the event, which will take place in the Edgar Neville Auditorium of the Provincial Council of Malaga on 24 March from 9.00 am, the future prospects of Spanish tropical crops will be discussed.

The main goal of this technical conference is to find ways to improve productivity and profitability, with presentations focused on practical, producer-oriented approaches, and experts to analyse the circumstances currently shaping cultivation.

It seeks, therefore, to find out more about the current situation of the Spanish production sector, comparing it with what's going on internationally; to be able to place the reality of growing avocados and mangoes in Spain within its context; to know more about the sector's strengths and weaknesses, both present and future, and to share the latest research, experience and technology transfers taking place in Spain and Israel.

To this end, the event will count with the presence of Adolfo Gabriel Levin, of the Institute Northern Research R & D in Israel, who will present the characteristics of mango cultivation in Israel. He will be accompanied by one of the most knowledgeable experts in the marketing of tropical fruits in Europe, Pierre Gerboud, Consultant of CIRAD France, and the event will be closed by the experts and professionals of the Technical Committee of the Tropical Crops Association, who will illustrate, together with the attendees, the main strategies and cutting-edge techniques that can be introduced to modernise avocado cultivation.

Admission is free for the press, upon notice by e-mail or phone call.
