Canada: Loblaw stocks ugly produce

Smaller misshapen produce that is healthy and tastes great, is now available at a selection of Loblaw stores in Ontario and Quebec, according to a press release from Loblaw’s. In an effort to make affordable, quality products available to customers, Loblaw introduced the no name® Naturally Imperfect™ line of fruits and vegetables. Starting with apples and potatoes, the imperfect produce costs up to 30 percent less than traditional produce options found in store.

Previously, imperfect produce was used in juices, sauces or soups, or may not have been harvested at all. The no name Naturally Imperfect program ensures that misshapen and smaller fruit does not need to go to waste. Click here for the full press release.
