Germany: First asparagus are here

In Germanys Steimbke, asparagus grower Carsten Bolte harvested the first asparagus of this year on Friday. Through ground heating, and foil and film covering of the asparagus dams, Bolter lets the white vegetable grow earlier and faster than usual. Around this time of year, the soil temperature on his asparagus fields is around ten degrees higher than without the artificial heat supply and covering.
