Getting control of the fire proved difficult at first, due to a massive smoke emission. Berlin fire department had to use a pressure fan for ventilation to obtain access. The State Office of Criminal Investigation has started investigations. Currently, the cause of the fire is still unclear.

All market activities could be continued smoothly. The warehouse is part of the nearly 330 000 m2 large wholesale market in the Beusselstreet.
