France: Bonduelle to close their site in Thouars in 2016

A mushroom cannery and ready-made Bonduelle and Cassegrain factory in Thouars will close in June 2016. By then 77 of the 138 employees will have decided whether or not they will accept an offer to work in the next closest factory, 25 km away.

Management justifies their decision to move them to another site in Doué-la-Fontaine (estimated at over €6 million) due to “European overproduction and structural price decreases”.

Mayor of Thouars, Patrice Pineau and President of the community of Thouar communes, Bernard Paineau, say that they are “sad and traumatised” and “wary and attentive of figures from management.”
The next special works council will take place on the 19 March 2015.
