as well as stake in Dutch cultivation company for Chinese leafy vegetables

MitroFresh acquires interest in Korean mushroom nursery

Mushroom wholesaler Mitrofresh from Poeldijk supplies a wide range of fresh mushrooms to wholesalers, hospitality, catering, institutions and others. The full range comprises of Asian mushroom, Dutch cultivated, wild mushrooms, cresses, sprouts and vegetables. The company's growth ambitions are apparent from the stake in a Dutch cultivation company of Chinese leafy vegetables, and a Korean mushroom nursery.

Thunderburg
"Mitrofresh from Poeldijk has purchased interests in Thunderburg, a Dutch grower that cultivates Chinese leafy vegetables in Westland and in Venlo. This means we have 6.5 hectares of Chinese leafy vegetable cultivation under our management, and we can also supply our clients with a full range of Chinese vegetables," says Kas Bahtiri.

Mitrofresh has also acquired an interest in a Korean mushroom nursery. "We now produce 14 tonnes of Eryngii mushrooms a day there. We import a large part to the Netherlands, and another part we sell directly from Korea to various other countries in the EU and USA," his brother Valon Bahtiri says. "This way we also try to control/manage production and supply ourselves, and to venture into new markets from the cultivation location."
