A Raynbow sorter is used for washed, selected and packaged carrots. Raidl replaced the traditional manual sorting table with Raynbow R-230-M equipped with sensor technology. The new Fototrainer software was developed and assembled by a team of Raytec engineers.
The machine was placed in line with the vibrating feeder, which aligns carrots and eliminates the broken ones.
The mechanical ejection system locates any carrots with colour or skin defects or with a big stalk residue. The machine replaced the traditional table, which needed eight people.
Play to watch the machine at work:
However, there are still two operators present eliminating any carrot with shape defects.
The machine has a productive capacity of 5 tons/hour max. For bigger capacities, there is Raynbow High Speed, which can sort up to 20 ton/hour of carrots and 40 ton/hour of potatoes.

But there's more - in March, Raytec will install the first two Raynbow machines in Russia and Bangladesh.
