Exports to the United States (the main market destination for canned capsicum with 42% of the total) increased by 15%. Sales to Spain, the second largest destination with 31% of the market share, fell by 8% due to lower shipments of the piquillo variety.

Meanwhile, Germany and Canada accounted for 10% of the market share and had a high positive percentage change.

Dried capsicum exports also increased
In 2014, shipments of dried capsicum accounted for 39% of all capsicum exports and amounted to US $87.08 million, while in 2013 they totalled $86.5 million.

In 2014, exports of whole dried peppers amounted to $54.65 million dollars and exports of powdered dried peppers totalled US $32.43 million.

Meanwhile, exports of frozen capsicum, which had amounted to US $9.41 million in 2013, totalled to US $6.87 million in 2014. Exports of frozen capsicum are subdivided into whole capsicums and sliced ones. Exports of whole frozen capsicums amounted to US $3,790,000, while exports of sliced capsicums totalled US $3,080,000, in 2014.

Exports of fresh capsicum amounted to 0.4% of total shipments in 2014, and amounted to US $840,000, while they totalled US $730,000 in 2013. The main market is Italy with 71% participation and a positive 75% variation, followed by Spain with 19% share and a drop of 29% in value compared to 2013.
