"We have been working on this market intensively for a few months now and the first reactions from Canada are good," he says, satisfied. "it isn't difficult to export something, but the products being accepted are completely different. We expect that winning ground in Canada will take time. The difficult part is that the Canadians really have to eat the pear. The Belgian pear looks odd to them. They associate a yellow appearance with a pear, but the green and bronze Belgian pear is completely different for this consumer."
Various Belgian media has already indicated that the VBT reports that up to 10,000 tonnes of pears could be shipped to Canada per year.
