Secretary of State Dijksma to open GroenteCongres

On the 26th of March Secretary of State Sharon Dijksma is to give an opening speech at the opening of the GroenteCongres in the Rotterdam WTC. This unique congress, a collective event by the healthcare sector and the fruit and vegetables sector, is marked by the importance of vegetables for a healthy lifestyle. Vegetables are tasty and you can never have enough of them. How can we make sure that the consumption of fruit and vegetables increases together?

We are eating more, and more often, but not always healthily. This has many causes, such as the lack of healthy snack. Eating vegetables is a hassle and not part of the daily routine. As part of the GroenteCongres, two workshop rounds will show various locations that are full of chances to raise the consumption of fruits and vegetables. Think schools, sports canteens, the supermarket, work, catering, healthcare facilities and nurseries.

In the workshop 'Supermarket', Sanne Bogaards, Corporate Social Responsibility for Lidl, will speak to those present about easy and affordable healthy choices. For five years in a row Lidl has been chosen by consumers as the best supermarket for fruit and vegetables.
In the workshop 'Healthcare Facilities' participants will learn more about the way consumers will buy their vegetables in 2020.
Online sales of food is on the rise and trends like a healthier lifestyle, focus on taste and origin can't be ignored. Healthcare facilities are also focussing more and more on these trends. ABN Amro is working on a publication on how this changes fresh chains and what opportunities there are. The full programme can be found on the website.

Vegetables are tasty and can be eaten more often. This is the GroenteCongres' approach on the 26th of March in the WTC in Rotterdam. The organisation, the GroentenFruit Huis and Platform Gezonde Voeding 0-4-year-olds, are connecting professionals from food horticulture and healthcare. Never before have so many diverse sectors spoken together about the power of vegetables. The message, which every visitor will take away, is that vegetables are tasty and that eating vegetables is the basis for good health. For more information and to sign up:
