US: Mango market steady, West Coast prices higher

Prices for imported mangos have held steady over the last few weeks as supplies continue to come in from Peru and Mexico. Shipments from Peru, which are expected to continue through mid-April, continue to trail those from the previous season.

On the week ending February 7, 2015, 6.0 million boxes of mangos had been shipped to the U.S. from Peru for the season. By the same week last year, 9.3 million boxes had been shipped for the season.

On February 13, 2015, prices for a flat of Kent 7s from Peru were between $7.00 and $8.50 at the Philadelphia port of entry. At South Florida ports of entry, a flat of Kent 7s from Peru ranged in price between $7.00 and $8.00.

In Southern California, supplies have been lighter and demand has been good. On February 13, prices for a flat of Kent 7s from Peru were between $9.00 and $11.00 at those ports of entry.
